The Better Half Pub

A pebble’s throw from the seafront and a million miles from the ordinary, The Better Half pub prides itself on its affable and welcoming nature with an added touch of eccentricity. My involvement with the pub dates back to 2014 when I was part of the team that worked on a complete transformation inside and out. Landlord Simon Stern took it over with the ambition to transform it from a tired, old-fashioned and unwelcoming pub to one of the best-loved and most popular pubs in Brighton & Hove.

From the outset, the intention was to put the heart and soul back into the pub without it veering into an overly generic and decorative makeover. It was about putting people first and giving the pub what it needed to grow organically and establish its personality through fascination, belonging, humour, and story while preserving an authentic pub feel.
